Accounting professionals are needed in every business. The larger the company, the greater the accounting requirements will be.

Choosing an accounting career gives you loads of flexibility. Professionals may choose to work within an accountancy and audit firm, or perhaps as an accounts executive in a particular industry.  It is very common for accountants to handle a portfolio of clients within a firm or particularly by launching their own independent practice.

Hey… don`t forget that it`s money that you are working with! You will usually have your say in most major decisions, therefore you will have substantial control over the company`s day to day financial decisions. Accountants are responsible for the financials and figures being presented, so get ready to be criticised and queried on all your reporting, after all, strategic decisions will be taken based on your reports that will certainly affect the future of the business.

Surprised with this title? Well the idea that accounting is a repetitive role is quite a myth. For many accountants, each day is different and exciting in its  ways – you will never worry about your role being monotonous.

More often than not accountants are involved in the operational requirements of a business. Generally along the years we would have acquired a set of skills that allow us to handle operational issues, manage risk and everything else that is thrown at us, literally!

Changes in technology and regulations will undoubtedly occur – This means that the industry is always evolving. You will need to attend courses and events, sign up on forums, follow innovators on social media and much more… Being exceptional is hard work, but no one said it would be easy.
